About the Role Shadbolt Group is seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex fabrication and construction projects within our Defence, Infrastructure, and Energy portfolios. Based in Burton, South Australia, this role works closely with the Project Manager to coordinate technical, engineering, and project control activities — ensuring quality, compliance, and on-time delivery across multiple projects. You’ll play a key role in planning, workpack development, materials management, and engineering support, contributing to Shadbolt’s reputation for excellence in Australian manufacturing and defence sustainment. Key Responsibilities • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor project progress and reporting • Develop and manage workpacks, drawings, and technical documentation • Source, procure, and track materials for project delivery • Provide engineering support for estimating, cost control, and technical queries • Liaise with clients, supervisors, and multidisciplinary teams to maintain alignment • Support inspections, test plans, and quality verification activities About You You’re detail-oriented, organised, and technically strong, with a passion for delivering quality outcomes in fabrication and engineering environments. You thrive in fast-paced project settings and enjoy collaborating across diverse teams. Specialist Skills & Knowledge • Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, and engineering principles • Proficient in interpreting drawings, specifications, and QA documentation • Effective communicator and problem solver • Strong documentation and coordination skills Qualifications & Experience • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering (0–4 years’ experience), or • Technical/trade qualification with 2–4 years’ project engineering or planning experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or construction • Defence or Infrastructure project exposure highly regarded • Proficient in MS Office; experience with MS Project or ERP systems an advantage Why Shadbolt Group Join a fast-growing Australian company supporting Defence, Energy, and Infrastructure industries nationwide.
