Description ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a motivated and passionate Youth Residential Support Worker with flexibility to work at the Brunswick West and South Morang refuges: The First Response Youth Service in South Morang is an innovative new model designed to respond to youth homelessness via a place-based approach in the north-eastern growth corridor of Melbourne. The Youth Residential program provides crisis accommodation and 24/7 support to young people and young families who reside in the Hope Street refuge in Brunswick West. Service delivery is based on the enhanced youth refuge model aiming to improve outcomes for young people as part of a homelessness prevention approach. You will contribute to the safe place where young people and their children are supported to move from a situation of crisis, uncertainty and risk to a situation of calm and empowerment to make decisions about their own lives. On a day-to-day basis you will: Provide support and assistance with living skills, connections with the community, personal and social development, employment, education and training. Assist young people to follow up actions from their case management plans including housing, income, education and training, health and wellbeing, general living skills and recreational activities. Complete client file notes as needed and assist with administration duties to help operations run smoothly. This position is casual, and availability is required for day, evening, and/or weekend shifts. You have work experience in youth focused practice frameworks such as strengths based or trauma informed practice. You have experience or knowledge of crisis accommodation settings including but not limited to youth homelessness. You have sector knowledge or experience understanding of young people’s trauma with complex needs, including homelessness, family violence, alcohol, drugs and/or mental illness. You pride yourself on your ability to motivate and advocate for clients to achieve outcomes. You are competent using the full suite of Microsoft applications.
