Description EXPERIENCED CANDIDATES NEED ONLY APPLY Your key responsibilities will include: Conduct weekly pre-start inspections of vehicles and mowers. Complete daily risk assessments for each worksite. Mow, flat whip and straight edge lawns, using push mowers, ride on mowers (front deck & Zero Turn), edging machines and whipper snippers. Plant garden beds, fertilise and spread mulch. Remove litter from garden beds and driveways. Operate leaf blower to clear leaves and grass clippings from hard surfaces. Shape hedges to control height and width with hedge shears or powered hedger. Prune plants to remove fronds and overgrown and dead branches. Maintaining the health of all plants with identification and prevention of diseases and pests. Use of spraying equipment like backpack sprayer and motorized spraying equipment, to control weeds, pests and insects. Tasks to be carried out in a manner that causes the least inconvenience to customers, staff and the general public. Place temporary warning signs when required. Operate equipment and machinery in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and the SNT operating procedures. Report maintenance and repair issues to the area supervisor. Understand and comply with quality, safety, health and environmental policies. Follow written instructions, verbal direction and procedures to perform work. Challenge any instructions that you believe places anyone or the environment at risk. Take personal responsibility to protect the health and safety of people or the environment. Skills And Experiences SELECTION CRITERIA: ESSENTIALS: Class C Driver’s Licence (manual) Ability to work under supervision and as a team member. Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols. A satisfactory National Police Security Check Report. Be physically able to perform the duties of the position Be able to perform manual work for long periods outdoors DESIRABLE: Certificate II or higher qualification in horticulture. Extensive industry experience in the role of gardener. Chainsaw operator certificate (or be willing to obtain) Working with Children (Ochre Card) (or be willing to obtain) Construction Industry White Card (or be willing to obtain) Knowledge of pest and weed control
