Immediate Hire Role: Senior Buyer Khan’s IGA is a local supermarket group proud to serve our communities with great value, fresh ideas, and a shopping experience that feels personal and welcoming. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Buyer to join our Buying Team. This role plays a critical part in shaping our product range, negotiating with suppliers, and driving strong commercial outcomes. Working closely with store teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, you will help deliver growth, profitability, and innovation across multiple categories. Responsibilities: Develop and implement category strategies that deliver growth, profitability, and strong customer appeal. Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships, securing competitive terms, pricing, and marketing support. Oversee commercial performance of categories, ensuring strong sales outcomes and positive return on promotions. Work collaboratively with store teams to align buying decisions with operational needs and customer preferences. Partner with the marketing team to plan and execute compelling promotional campaigns. Contribute to the Buying Team’s budgeting, forecasting, and compliance processes by providing insights and recommendations. Conduct store visits to review product mix, availability, and market opportunities. Drive innovation by identifying new products and category opportunities aligned with consumer demand. Support your fellow Buyer to deliver consistent, effective outcomes across all categories. Maintain a shrinkage strategy and oversee its implementation, which includes communication, education, monitoring, review, and support. Provide timely and concise reports and recommendation to the directors on relevant matters. Other: Perform additional duties as requested by your manager. Requirements: Previous experience in retail buying, merchandise planning, or inventory management (supermarket or FMCG preferred). Strong negotiation, supplier management, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external partners. Solid understanding of retail financials and ability to assess performance and deliver improvements. Highly analytical with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ability to deliver clear, data-driven presentations. Detail-oriented and organised, with strong problem-solving skills Awareness and compliance with relevant legislation, such as WH&S and environmental regulations Khans Supermarket Group, a family-operated independent business, manages 10 IGA retail locations throughout New South Wales. The available role is stationed at our support office in Picton, NSW.
