We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Irrigation General Hand to join our team and help us achieve a high standard of presentation for our City’s Parks, Gardens and Turf Areas. Primary Purpose of the Position: As part of an Irrigation team, you will play a crucial role in upholding the City’s commitment to outstanding Greenspace maintenance. Reporting to the responsible Supervisor, you will ensure our Parks, Gardens and Turf meet the highest standards of presentation. Key Responsibilities: Implementation and maintenance of a safe working environment, promoting duty of care and a strong focus on safety. Operate a variety of plant and equipment associated with the day-to-day maintenance of the City’s facilities. Monitor water regimes, (i.e. site is verdant and uniformly irrigated) ensuring application rates are being effectively applied to cultivated turf and plants, maintaining healthy growth throughout the year. Carry out routine reticulation system inspections, identify and rectify faults as required and maintain an acceptable level of presentation. Assist with any customer enquiries promptly and project a helpful and positive image for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Contribute to the monitoring of costs by ensuring all operational activities and use of resources is undertaken with cost in mind. Pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance of all plant and equipment. Report to the supervisor daily for duties and discuss any major faults that may impact others. Adhere to manufacturer's specifications for the installation of materials and equipment use. Ensure that irrigation system repairs are carried out in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards and current best practice. Perform other duties as directed when appropriate to the scope and level of this position.
