Workshop Mechanic The Workshop Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and hands-on rebuilding of heavy vehicle power steering systems . The role includes both workshop-based and on-vehicle repairs , ensuring equipment is serviced to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on heavy vehicle power steering equipment. Rebuild power steering components with precision and attention to detail. Undertake on-vehicle repairs and maintenance where required. Propose alternative technical solutions to customers and communicate benefits. Follow all established quality and safety procedures. Maintain accurate records of service work and incident reporting. Identify and address workplace hazards promptly. Collaborate effectively with peers and support team objectives. Other responsibilities as directed by the Branch Manager. Skills, Education & Experience Trade qualification as a mechanic, with strong truck/heavy vehicle experience. Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic. Prior exposure to heavy vehicle power steering systems and components (highly desirable). Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment. Safety-conscious, detail-focused, and dependable.
