The positions will be full-time for 12 months commencing Monday 2nd February, 2026 and will include the completion of a Cert II in Horticulture. The Duties: Reporting to the Supervisor Parks, the Trainee will perform a diverse range of duties which will include: Assist with the day-to-day tasks and activities with the Council's Parks and Gardens maintenance operations. Operate small ride-on equipment and motorised hand equipment. Provide a high level of client service to both internal and external clients. Refer matters that impact Council to appropriate Supervisors or Manager. Complete a Cert II in Horticulture studies. Maintain a record of training achieved. Maintain a safe, clean and tidy workplace. Complete other reasonable activities and directions as needed. The Requirements: Minimum successful completion of year 10. General Safety Induction for Construction Worker Certificate (White Card) or the ability to acquire. A commitment to learn new Horticulture skills and complete formal qualifications. The ability to undertake manual lifting. The ability to work safely outdoors in hot conditions. Sound comprehension and numeracy skills. Sound communication skills. The proven ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision as required. Proven team player qualities. A minimum current "C" class driver licence.
