Fin Design Effects is currently looking for a Render Wrangler to cover the night time shift. This is a great opportunity to join a distinguished team of animation and VFX artists who have produced a great variety of incredible work including Elvis, Thor: Love and Thunder, Three Thousand Years of Longing, Shang Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings, Lost in Space, and I Am Mother . Roles & Responsibilities Efficiently manage overnight resources based on a defined priority system. Use the Render Target Page on Shotgrid/Flow and translate that data to a Regex for Deadline Optimising farm efficiency with an understanding of the limitations of the hardware infrastructure: GPU hardwares (VRAM, A40/L4) CPU hardwares (RAM, core) Parallel and concurrent tasks Monitor farm condition and follow proper issue escalation procedures Pattern recognition for broader scale issues such as network bottleneck and license failure Understand and distill render logs to facilitate triage and manage render farm jobs that fall outside of expected render times. E.g. excessive USD render times, excessive hardware usage that cause blockage on other shows running for on-time delivery Understand the purpose of each farm job and how it relates to VFX workflows (FX, Lighting, Compositing, Turntable, Proxy, Mipmapping, Working plates, layout/animation…) Report to Artists and Producers when overnight jobs will not be completed within the requested time. Communicate with I.T. and R&D to understand pipeline changes that may impact the health of the render farm. Core skills A sense of urgency and is good at crisis management Basic understanding of coding language (python) Previous experience operating task queueing systems (e.g. from a computer lab)
