Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit | Mackay Base Hospital, Queensland About the Role Mackay Base Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role requires a minimum of three years’ ICU experience and the ability to provide high-quality critical care nursing in a busy tertiary facility. Nurses will work a rotating roster with both 8-hour and 12-hour shifts. Requirements Minimum of 3 years’ ICU experience (mandatory) Knowledge and proficiency in ieMR and MetaVision (desirable) Previous experience working in Australia, QLD Health and/or Mackay HHS (desirable) Mandatory Competencies Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Life Support (ALS) Manual and patient handling Infection control Aggressive behaviour management Mandatory reporting (child abuse and neglect) Medication management including QPHS (Drugs and Poisons) Regulations, November 2012 Additional Training (as required by Mackay HHS): Integrated electronic medical record training Online induction training Other training as requested Contract Details Role: Registered Nurse – ICU Start Date: ASAP End Date: 05/10/2025 Nursing Level: RN Grade 5 Facility: Mackay Base Hospital State: Queensland Duration: Approx. 5 weeks Shifts: Rotating 8- and 12-hour shifts, as per roster Hours: Max. 80 hours per fortnight (overtime applies after 80 hours p.f., except on rostered 12-hour shifts) Days Off: As per roster Breaks: Minimum 8-hour break required between shifts Placements Available: 4 Bed and Scope Mackay Base Hospital’s ICU is a critical care unit providing intensive monitoring and treatment for patients with life-threatening conditions.
