We’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance team. This newly created role is critical to ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services across a diverse workforce, and offers an exciting opportunity to support the implementation of a new Payroll and Time & Attendance system. Working closely with Finance, HR, and operational teams, you’ll ensure payroll activities align with relevant legislation, modern awards, and internal policies. You’ll also support system administration and user engagement, helping maintain the integrity of payroll-related data. About the Role Permanent Part-time Position 0.6 FTE / 45.6 hours per fortnight, across 5 days per week (Monday to Friday). Roster will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate, subject to payroll processing deadlines. Some flexibility will be required from time to time. Canning Vale Location In the initial phase, the Payroll Officer will play a key role with our internal project team in the configuration and implementation of our new system. This includes collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partner to ensure the system meets operational needs and complies with award conditions. You’ll also support system testing, documentation, training, and troubleshooting during rollout. Once implemented, the role will transition into managing the full payroll cycle, including processing, taxation, superannuation, reconciliations, reporting, and ongoing system administration. Key Responsibilities System Implementation (Initial Phase): Support the configuration and rollout of the new Payroll and Time & Attendance system Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance and functionality Coordinate system testing, training, and documentation Provide troubleshooting and user support during implementation Ongoing Payroll Responsibilities: Process end-to-end payroll under multiple modern awards (SCHADS, GRIA, RTD) Interpret and apply industrial instruments accurately Manage STP submissions, superannuation, salary packaging, and other deductions Perform payroll reconciliations and support internal/external audits Validate rosters and timesheets to ensure compliance with award conditions Maintain system configuration, improvements and provide ongoing user support What You’ll Bring 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role with full payroll responsibility Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, PAYG, and superannuation Confidence interpreting multiple awards (SCHADS, GRIA, RTD highly regarded) Experience with payroll reconciliations and audit preparation High-level proficiency in payroll systems and Excel (TANDA experience a plus) Familiarity with award-based rostering and time & attendance systems Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and continuous improvement About Us We’re a purpose-driven organisation making a positive impact in the lives of thousands of vulnerable West Australians.
