Roads ACT is seeking a motivated and a skilled Technical Officer to join our Streetlight division within the Environment and Utilities business unit. The position supports the ongoing operation of the streetlight network and contributes to the effective delivery of street lighting projects and maintenance programs through the development and review of technical specifications, project documentation and asset management processes. The successful applicant will participate in the planning, coordination, and delivery of street lighting infrastructure and services across the Roads ACT network. In this role, the individual will be responsible for technical assessments including, asset audits and inspections, stakeholder engagement, contract administration and support the development of innovative lighting solutions. The position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes, and environmental guidelines by maintaining the safety, reliability and long-term sustainability of the ACT’s public lighting infrastructure. We are looking for a qualified professional with experience and certification in the electrical field with a current electrical licence. Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment are essential. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Driver’s licence (HR or MR) – mandatory Technical qualifications including current electrical licence certification III in Electrotechnology Electrician – mandatory /Certificate III in ESI - Distribution Overhead -highly desirable. Have significant building or infrastructure knowledge and/or project management experience or technical qualification or accreditations with a professional body recognised within Australia. Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain; General Construction Induction Card ( White Card) A preparedness to wear high visibility workwear, and steel capped boots and appropriate PPE. Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite programs is highly desirable. Implement traffic control plans- desirable or an ability to gain within three months of engagement. This position does require a pre-employment medical. Notes: This is a temporary position available from 25 November 2025 for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency.
