Your Opportunity As a Case Worker in our Emergency Relief service, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing financial crisis or hardship. This position focuses on providing immediate assistance such as food parcels, clothing, and vouchers, while also linking clients to services that address the underlying issues impacting their financial wellbeing. The role involves delivering person-centred case management, helping clients set achievable goals, and supporting them to build independence and resilience. This is an on-site position based in Taree and covers a large geographical area where you will engage directly with clients, respond to referrals, and work collaboratively with the communities to ensure people receive timely and dignified support. You will work under general supervision but be given scope to exercise initiative, judgment, and sensitivity in applying casework practices to meet the complex needs of clients. This role is well suited to someone with two years’ experience in community services, or a new graduate who has completed a placement in the sector. Your Key Responsibilities Provide practical and immediate support to clients through emergency relief, including intake, assessments, and referrals to supplementary services. Respond to client enquiries and referrals from internal and external providers, ensuring timely support and accurate documentation. Manage administrative requirements including case notes, client records, reports, and data entry into client management systems. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community service providers to strengthen networks and improve client outcomes. Advocate on behalf of clients, making warm referrals and linking them with appropriate community resources and supports. Support clients to transition from emergency relief into independence or longer-term services, encouraging self-management and resilience. Requirements for Success Relevant tertiary qualifications (Degree, Diploma, or Certificate) in community services or a related field, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated experience in case management and supporting individuals in financial distress, or completion of a community services placement for new graduates. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and diverse audiences. Sound administrative and technology skills, including accurate data entry and maintaining professional case notes. Ability to maintain professional boundaries while balancing empathy, support, and assertiveness in challenging situations. Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage high demand and limited resources effectively. A positive, person-centred approach with a commitment to dignity, resilience, and empowering individuals and families. Current First Aid & CPR Certificate. Full driver licence with no restrictions.
