The UGL New Energy team is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer - Solar to join our energy team. UGL promotes diversity and alternative ways of working, including part-time. Position on Offer As part of your role, you will oversee the conceptual and detailed engineering of the Solar project. This involves developing specifications and collaborating with management to address engineering concerns that may arise. Your duties and responsibilities Planning and conducting professional engineering work without direct supervision. Consult, recommend, and advise on specialist engineering areas. Supervise and coordinate multi-disciplinary design activities. Control and manage technical interfaces between disciplines, with equipment suppliers and subcontractors. Assist in the preparation of the forecast and the constructability of projects. Supervise commissioning activities with the site commissioning teams. Your skills and experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy or related field. Extensive experience in Solar PV Engineering, with a strong background in utility-scale solar projects up to 100MW. Skilled in PVSyst, Cymcap, PVCase, RatedPower PV Design. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and clear communication. Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams, manage multiple projects, and maintain a strategic focus. Open to travel for site-based work as needed.
