Join our Parks & Landscapes team and help maintain and improve the parks, gardens, and streetscapes that make our community a great place to live. As one of the fastest-growing council areas in South Australia, the City of Playford is focused on building sustainable foundations and places the community at the heart of everything we do. With our urban centre as the CBD of Northern Adelaide, our city is enriched by growing and diverse communities in new and established suburbs, rural and hills townships, and horticultural lands. About the Role In this role, you’ll help deliver scheduled and reactive horticultural maintenance across parks, reserves, streetscapes, and open spaces. Your day might include planting and mulching, pruning trees and hedges, weeding and spraying, checking irrigation, or inspecting public spaces for safety and presentation. You’ll also monitor the health of plants and turf, keep an eye out for disease or irrigation issues, and make sure our open spaces are safe, clean, and welcoming. This is a varied and active role where every day is different, and teamwork is key. About You You’ll need a Certificate III in Horticulture, a current MR (Medium Rigid) licence, and Chemcert accreditation (including AHCCHM307 and AHCCHM304) to get started. You’ve worked in horticulture for a few years and know your way around seasonal plant care, irrigation systems, weed and pest management, and general garden maintenance. You’re someone who is happy working outdoors in all seasons, you have a good eye for detail, and you take pride in making public spaces look great. If you’ve worked with front deck mowers, irrigation systems, or have additional plant and equipment tickets, that’s a bonus. Incumbents in these positions will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical and functional assessment (including drug & alcohol screen) as well as undertaking a National Criminal History Clearance or DCSI Clearance.
