What you’ll contribute to: An exciting newly created opportunity has become available for a forward-thinking Asset Engineer to join the team at Townsville Airport, part of the Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) group. This new role has been established to drive the development and implementation of asset management strategies that align with QAL’s strategic objectives, ensuring the long-term sustainability, efficiency, and resilience of airport infrastructure. As the Asset Engineer, you will take the lead on asset renewal and long-term planning, failure analysis, and the management of critical spare parts, using data-driven insights to guide infrastructure decisions and investment. You will also be responsible for overseeing utilities and building control systems, ensuring regulatory compliance while promoting cost-effective and environmentally responsible resource management. As the newly appointed Asset Engineer, you’ll bring a strong technical foundation to drive meaningful outcomes across the airport’s infrastructure. Key deliverables/responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop, implement, and maintain asset management plans and systems, including asset lifecycle strategies, critical spares management, and performance analysis to support long-term infrastructure reliability and efficiency. Manage utilities (electricity, water, waste) and building control processes, including approvals, metering, and regulatory compliance. Drive resource efficiency and cost-saving initiatives while supporting maintenance operations. Provide technical input into asset design and specifications, coordinate minor projects, and ensure effective asset handover to operations in collaboration with project teams and facility coordinators. Deliver regular performance and maintenance reporting, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to innovation and efficiency across asset management practices, systems, and procedures. Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, aviation safety, and security requirements.
