Overview Flexible location across Australia – opportunity to work from home. Bowls Australia (BA) is a significant National Sporting Organisation with about 40 staff and a turnover of $9-10M per annum. The Australian Jackaroos will be part of the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Bowls is collaboratively pursuing Olympic and Paralympic recognition. Reporting directly to the CEO, BA seeks its inaugural Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to establish a new national commercial model from 2026. The CCO will develop and manage BA’s multi-million dollar commercialisation strategy across events, sponsorship, digital, broadcast, travel, tourism, hospitality and other new revenue areas. The role leads sales for BA and coordinates commercialisation efforts across the business, aligning stakeholders from many departments. The framework of the new commercial model has been developed in conjunction with industry experts in line with BA’s Strategic Plan: Action Agenda 2025-28 Bold Bowls | Fun Bowls. Key Areas of Responsibility As a proven senior commercial sales leader and manager, you will: Design and deliver the commercial model and long-term sponsorship sales strategy with the CEO. With the CEO, facilitate reporting to and coordination with the Board on this core responsibility. Achieve annual budgeted sponsorship and corporate hospitality revenue targets. Identify new commercial opportunities and ensure all obligations to sponsors are delivered. Negotiate long-form contracts for new partnership deals and communicate entitlements to BA staff. Ensure excellent relationships with partners regarding events and related elements. Drive a positive, commercially focused culture within Bowls Australia. Knowledge, skills and behaviours Proven track record of negotiating and delivering commercial partnerships, including meeting and exceeding targets. Experience in leading and influencing high-performing sales teams. Experience in developing sales strategy and new business initiatives. Experience in strategic prospecting and executive-level cold calling. Strong network of contacts. High-level presentation skills and ability to develop market-leading presentations. Experience in the corporate hospitality marketplace. Understanding of the sports entertainment industry, including broadcast and digital media. Major Interactions You will engage with the BA Board, Senior Leadership Team, departments, existing and potential Partners and Sponsors (Government/ Tourism Bodies and Commercial), broadcast production partners, Bowls Premier League teams/licensees, and State/Territory Member Associations as required.
