About the role This position is in the Disciplinary Action Unit, which is responsible for the disciplinary process in relation to Licence Holders within the Building Industry. The Disciplinary Action Unit is responsible for making determinations about complex matters of fact and law and the appropriate disciplinary action in relation to licence holders, including whether to: Impose monetary penalties up to $220,000 Implement drafted licence conditions, for example by imposing restrictions or remedying misconduct or misgovernance by ensuring quality improvements, and/or Whether to suspend or cancel building licences of both small and large licenced entities in NSW, including building design professionals, builders, tradesmen, supervisors and certifiers The Administration Assistant will support the team in compiling documents, updating registers, issuing correspondence/notices/decisions and other administrative tasks as required. The position would suit a person interested in legal regulatory processes and willing and capable to assist in important administrative steps in the disciplinary process for licence holders. May suit a law student/graduate with a great attitude to work who want exposure to an entry level role in legal/regulatory systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the next phase of the Building Commission within NSW. https://www.nsw.gov.au/housing-and-construction/building-commissioner In this role, you will: Provide a range of legal assistant/administrative services including filing, dealing with correspondence, monitoring inboxes, maintenance of registers, routine purchasing, meeting and event support, photocopying and creating, processing and compiling documents to support/contribute to the effective operations of the business unit/team Collect and compile information to support the development of documentation and reports Respond to enquiries and routine requests for information, escalating enquiries as necessary, to provide accurate and timely information and customer service Update and maintain records, registers and files, databases, complying with records management processes, ensuring information is accurate, stored correctly and accessible Check, maintain and arrange prompt maintenance of equipment, including ordering and distributing and maintaining supplies to ensure ongoing availability To be successful in this role: A person interested in legal/regulatory processes and formal disciplinary proceedings A person with a great attitude to work who is comfortable doing routine administrative work and new novel work from time to time A person comfortable with technology/registers/office software applications May suit a person interested in completing their practical legal training, which can be accommodated for the right candidate What we need from you An up-to-date CV and a brief cover letter (2 page maximum) outlining how your skills and experience are aligned to the role.
