The Head of Special Education Services would be embedded within this leadership team, contributing to the strategic direction of the school, leading inclusive practices, and analysing student data to ensure all learners are progressing and achieving positive outcomes. Karumba State School, a small and close-knit primary school, services students from Prep to Year 6 in the nearby coastal town of Karumba. With a strong focus on individual student growth, the school prioritises building clear, achievable student learning goals and creating engaging, inclusive classroom environments. Staff development is also a key focus, with an emphasis on ensuring teachers are equipped with the latest knowledge in curriculum and pedagogy. As part of the broader cluster arrangement, the Head of Special Education Services would support the school in continuing to strengthen its inclusive practices, support staff with differentiated instruction, and ensure that all students are working towards meaningful academic and social-emotional goals in a supportive learning environment. Step Into Your Next Chapter: Coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the Special Education Program. Provide advice and support to Special Education Program and classroom teachers and would lead programs to ensure that all students were achieving. Normanton has a diverse staff with a range of experience. Share their knowledge with staff and assist them to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability, as well as model and teach. Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention, and case manage students who require extensive or substantial adjustments. Leads the Student Support Committee, oversees the referral process and supports the classroom teachers and other school staff to access departmental or other external specialist services, professional development, and supports as needed.
