About NAPCo The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares, largest single herd in the world and home to Five Founders Beef. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 15 cattle stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD. Soudan Station, NT Soudan Station runs approx. 22,000 head of cattle and is located on the Barkly Highway, 1 hour west of Camooweal and is home to NAPCo's heifer hub. The Role Reporting to the Soudan Station Manager, the Machinery Operator maintains property roads, undertakes property maintenance, drainage works and erosion control. Day to Day duties include: Operating Grader to maintain roads, drainage works and erosion control Machinery operations for property maintenance Maintains machinery in good working order Undertakes mechanical prestart and general maintenance Undertaking varied station tasks - when there is no grader work to be done, there is always plenty to do around the station (i.e. welding, fencing etc) Assisting the crew when needed with adhoc general station duties. Due to the size of Soudan Station, the Machinery Operator camps out on occasion and is equipped with self-contained mobile accommodation. The successful candidate will: Have experience operating a Grader, Loader, Dozer and other machinery Have good mechanical knowledge of equipment Have relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in operating a Grader and other machinery Be able to take direction from the Station Manager as tasks may vary day to day Maintain all station equipment as if it were your own Hold a current drivers license Employee benefits Permanent full-time position | Meals and private air-accommodation provided A competitive day rate, generous annual leave entitlements, season completion bonus We invest heavily in on-the-job training and all staff are offered and encouraged to complete a traineeship in Agriculture.
