Water Treatment Operator (DAF Operator) Horsley Park NSW Our client is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join the team based at their new Horsley Park facility. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our on-site wastewater treatment systems. Reporting to the Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and optimisation of the wastewater treatment plant, including: •Operating and monitoring treatment systems (Balance Tank, Intermediate Tank Fenton Reaction, DAF system, sludge handling). •Monitoring and adjusting water quality parameters (pH, ORP, TDS, TSS, BOD, chlorine, chloroform). •Handling and dosing chemicals (sodium metabisulfite, ferrous sulfate, hydrogen peroxide, sulfuric acid) safely and effectively. •Conducting preventative maintenance and troubleshooting pumps, mixers, aerators, compressors, and DAF components. •Managing sludge collection, recycling, and disposal to minimise environmental impact and costs. •Recording operational data, preparing reports, and supporting audits and compliance activities. You'll bring strong technical ability, safety awareness, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Specifically, you will have: •Extensive knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, DAF systems, and Fenton reaction principles. •Proven hands-on experience (ideally 10 years) operating wastewater treatment plants. •Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and process optimisation skills. •Ability to work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and external water management service providers. •Relevant training/accreditation in hazardous chemical handling and workplace safety. •Forklift licence (advantageous).
