Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counsellingis Australia's leading provider of high-quality mental health assessment and clinical counselling services for Australian veterans and their families. We focus on meeting client needs through a combination of proven clinical practices and new, and emerging evidence-based approaches. Group Program Coordinators (APS 6) work within the Open Arms Division of the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), providing coordination and management of the Open Arms Group Programs across the Australian Capital Territory and Southern New South Wales (ACT/SNSW) regions. Group Program Coordinators work under the direction of an Assistant Director to deliver a suite of group treatment programs and psychoeducational workshops to support veterans and their family's mental and social health and their transition from the military to a predominantly civilian life. Group programs generally involve a small group of clients (minimum 6 to maximum of 15) led by 1-2 facilitators, including internal and external clinicians and lived experience professionals (peers) where possible. The Group Program Coordinator will bring knowledge of veterans' and their families' experiences to the role and will demonstrate respect for all clients and uphold a strong commitment to confidentiality and privacy. The key duties of the position include In accordance with organisational goals and identified regional demand, ensure a program of treatment and psychoeducational groups and workshops are promoted, and delivered to targeted populations Develop an annual group program schedule - review current group program material to deliver group programs which include pre/post group assessments with participants and group program evaluation and reporting Manage group program queries, share group program objectives and be the client contact point for group programs across the ACT/SNSW region Provide training, on-boarding and off-boarding to Group Program Facilitators (GPF's) and act as the Open Arms liaison point of contact by providing on-going information, debriefing and support Ensure that GPF's meet Key Performance Indicators in accordance with the Open Arms Quality and Safety Framework to ensure continuous improvement. (* This will not be required when new Model of Care (MoC) is introduced) Maintain and manage a database of GPF's and update administrative staff on availability of GPF's to facilitate group programs Work closely with the Group Program Support Officer to Plan, Promote, Deliver and Evaluate Group Programs. Oversee Financial Management of group program budget expenditure, DVA procurement activities and associated requirements Work collaboratively with the Outreach Program Coordinator and Assistant Director Outreach and Groups to support regional service delivery via the outreach and partnership arrangements as required Maintain a small clinical workload of clients as negotiated with the Assistant Director Engage with complainants to identify concerns and develop options to achieve resolution Schedule and attend Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, including clinical supervision, to maintain professional registration Apply the principles of cooperative and safe working practices consistent with APS Values and the Department's mission, vision, approach and values Participate in community development and service promotion activities, as required Participate in Open Arms program evaluation and research activities, contributing to project management activities that implement strategic directions and quality improvement recommendations, and provide feedback for ongoing development of clinical policies and procedures, as required.
