We have expected vacancies for full-time Heavy Vehicle Mechanic positions at the North, South and Central Region Depots. As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will work, learn and develop from an established team whilst: Undertaking maintenance and/or repair activities to the full range of Fleet vehicles, while adhering to safe working practices. Prioritising work activities to ensure that peak vehicle availability is met. Ensuring you have strong communication and interpersonal skills to complete tasks within a designated timeframe, considering quality control measures. Assisting with projects, including modification programs. You will be required to work rostered shifts, from early morning to late at night and across all Transport Canberra’s workshop sites as directed. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the field, possess good communication, interpersonal and computer skills, be well organised, a positive attitude, be a team player and have a safety-first approach. Eligibility/Other requirements: Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas. Individuals on visas with Australian working rights are eligible to apply for temporary non-ongoing roles. A pre-employment criminal history check will be conducted. This position does require a pre-employment medical. Relevant recognised trade qualifications and or certificates are mandatory. Drivers Licence (C-class) is mandatory, with an ability to obtain a HR licence. The ability to work rostered shifts, from early morning to late at night. Notes: A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill identical future vacancies over the next 12 months.
