We’ve replaced traditional paper and spreadsheet systems with a cloud-based platform that streamlines drilling operations, data management, and team collaboration. The Role We’re seeking an experienced Software Engineer to lead a team of up to 6 engineers and play a key role in shaping our technical roadmap. You’ll set direction, guide architecture decisions, and drive delivery of complex, customer-facing features on our SaaS platform — while continuing to contribute hands-on to the codebase. This role is ideal for a Senior Engineer ready to step into leadership while staying close to the craft of engineering. ⚡ What You’ll Do Lead the design and delivery of high-performance features for our customers Own technical outcomes end-to-end, balancing speed, quality, and scalability Architect scalable backend services, APIs and data models to process operational drilling data Set technical standards and drive best practices across the codebase, tools, and pipelines Guide and mentor a team of Software Engineers, building capability and fostering a growth-oriented culture Collaborate closely with product and design to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions Qualifications and Fit 5 years of professional software development experience, including 2 years in a technical leadership role Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience Proven ability to lead projects or small teams while staying hands-on Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python (or similar modern backend languages) and their relevant web frameworks Experience dealing with relational databases at scale (Postgres/Mysql) Experience with agile development methodologies and modern software practices Background in B2B SaaS Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud platforms Proven ability to lead projects or small teams, set technical direction, and remain hands-on Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders ️ Tech Stack Backend: Node.js (TypeScript), Django (Python), PostgreSQL, Amazon Web Services Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS Mobile: React Native Perks & Benefits Flexible/hybrid working arrangements Chance to build meaningful software used globally in the mining industry Central CBD location Vibrant office culture -open plan space, birthday celebrations, team events (hello movie nights office jukebox!)
