As a HammondCare Biography Writing or Editing volunteer in Western Sydney your listening and writing skills will allow HammondCare community clients to record their stories, memories, and messages for loved ones. Turn back time with tales and tunes, help capture a life story worth sharing! We’re looking for a compassionate volunteer to visit a remarkable woman over 6 to 8 weeks and help document her life story. Originally from Sri Lanka, she’s a proud mother of three with a rich and fascinating history. She has lived in Germany, worked as a travel consultant, and holds a deep interest in faith, politics, and culture. She also has a soft spot for rock and pop music! Your visits will help transform her memories into a treasured keepsake for her and her family – a gift that lasts a lifetime. Ideally, you'll have the following skills - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word - 50 words per minute typing skills - Ability to work independently and problem solve - Own car to drive to the home of the Client - Willingness to learn new technology and software. You will be using a Dictaphone and a transcription software program - Availability for a long term commitment and up-to 5 hours per week. The transcription and editing process can occur in the evenings, while the face-to-face interview will occur on a weekday (Monday-Friday between 9am-4pm) for one hour.
