Phillip Riley is pleased to have been retained by Mint Renewables in their search for a Country Lead for New Zealand Lead the next chapter of Aotearoa’s clean energy future Mint Renewables, in partnership with Ngāi Tahu , has formed a landmark joint venture to deliver a portfolio of wind, solar and storage projects across New Zealand. This is not a typical leadership role – it’s an opportunity to help shape the way our country generates and stores its power for generations to come. As Country Lead, you’ll be Mint’s key representative in New Zealand and establish and grow the Mint Aotearoa partnership portfolio. You’ll be leading development activity from origination through to Final Investment Decision, identifying opportunities, building partnerships, and steering projects towards delivery. Alongside Ngāi Tahu, you’ll work to create energy assets that honour cultural values while delivering strong commercial outcomes. We’re looking for someone with an entrepreneurial streak – the sort of person who can see potential where others might not, who can bring people together to make things happen, and who isn’t afraid to make bold decisions. You’ll be trusted to set the pace and chart the course, with the backing of Mint’s wider ANZ leadership and the Mint Aotearoa Board. This is a role where no two days will be the same. One day you’ll be walking potential sites in the regions, the next you’ll be negotiating with offtakers or presenting to government. What you’ll bring We’re seeking a senior renewable energy developer with: At least eight years’ experience in utility-scale renewables (wind, solar, storage). A track record of taking projects from greenfield through to FID . Commercial acumen, with experience negotiating with landholders, iwi, government, offtakers and financiers. The ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on delivery. A natural flair for building relationships, inspiring trust, and communicating with impact. Why this role? Because it’s rare.
