The role focuses on integrating transport and land use planning to support sustainable city growth, accessibility, and community wellbeing. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and lead an effective team capable of delivering up to date strategic transport solutions and road safety programs Provide effective staff management, including recruitment, performance management and employee development, employee motivation and fostering of team harmony Compile and analyse data on demographic, economic, environmental, and transport factors to inform strategic land use and transport planning. Develop and implement transport and land use strategies, including the CBD Parking Strategy and MOVE: The Albury Wodonga Integrated Transport Strategy. Advise Council, government agencies, and stakeholders on urban and transport planning matters, ensuring alignment with legislation, policies, and community objectives. Review and evaluate planning proposals and environmental impacts related to transport and development projects. Prepare and present strategic reports and plans to Council, committees, and the community, using both narrative and graphic formats. Facilitate consultation and collaboration with government authorities, community members, consultants, and professional groups to resolve planning and transport issues. Coordinate and manage transport and road safety programs to improve accessibility, sustainability, and community safety. Promote active and sustainable transport initiatives and support integrated land use and transport outcomes. Monitor and keep current with changes to legislation, zoning codes, and transport/urban planning best practice. Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training. This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 35 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor. On occasions there will be a requirement to attend meetings and events outside of normal business hours. This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Degree in Urban Planning or other relevant field Minimum 1 year experience in transport planning, urban planning, or local government. Strong understanding of urban and transport planning principles, road safety initiatives, and community engagement. Class C (Standard) Driver's License (Compulsory to have and to maintain) DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Postgraduate qualifications in Urban or Regional Planning. Demonstrated experience in delivery of strategic plans and policies relating to transport and land use. EXPERIENCE Demonstrated experience in transport planning, strategic planning, urban planning, or similar field A minimum 1 year working in the transport industry or local government sector SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Thorough understanding and competence in the following areas; Strategic analysis and policy development. Stakeholder consultation and facilitation. Program and project management. Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills. Ability to prepare and present high-level reports, strategies, and recommendations.
