About the opportunity The University of Sydney School of Dentistry (Sydney Dental School) is ranked amongst the top dental schools internationally and is one of the largest dental schools in Australia. Sydney Dental School (SDS) has campuses in the Sydney Dental Hospital (in inner-eastern Sydney), the Westmead Centre for Oral Health at Westmead Hospital and the Nepean Centre for Oral Health (in western Sydney), and outreach service-based teaching is undertaken across the state of NSW. We are seeking a Lecturer (Clinical Education) in dentistry to coordinate the Endodontics courses under the direction of Dr William Ha . This is a part-time position based at the Sydney Dental School Simulation Clinic organising and administering the program in accordance with University of Sydney award programs. Your key responsibilities will be to: Using your advanced knowledge in general dental practice, your key responsibilities will be to: deliver and coordinate core clinical learning experiences for postgraduate students engaged in SDS education programs supervise dentistry students in a simulated clinic environment deliver clinical education in dental practice (endodontics) and provide mentorship to students lead team-teaching activities with other staff, contributing to calibration of casual and other contracted teaching staff apply industry/clinical knowledge to inform teaching and learning practices develop teaching and assessment materials which align with best practice with support from more senior clinicians or academic staff within the School/Clinical School engage with professional learning opportunities provided at the faculty and University level About you a BDS/DMD or equivalent primary qualification a dental clinician or academic with extensive clinical skills and experience significant recent clinical expertise in dentistry and proven ability to apply expertise and knowledge to inform pedagogical practice (usually more than three years post an accredited health professional qualification) experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities demonstrated capacity to stimulate, actively engage and educate students in the provision of outstanding patient care a network of relationships with key academic, clinical and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by student coaching and skills development desirable: full accreditation as specialist/consultant with specialist college and/or eligible for registration in NSW as health professional in relevant discipline Sponsorship / work rights for Australia You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply.
