About The Role The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Financial Counsellor to join our team in Tamworth. This role is focused on providing financial counselling, casework, and advocacy for individuals experiencing or at risk of financial hardship. You will work collaboratively with community members to develop and implement personalised case plans that alleviate financial stress, build financial resilience, improve mental health, and enhance overall wellbeing. Reporting to the Team Leader this is a part time ongoing position for 3 days a week. Salary is aligned with the SCHADS Award Level 5 (or Level 4 for unaccredited Financial Counsellors). How you will make an impact Establish effective, empowering relationships with community members to support self-determination and participation Deliver community member-centred, holistic, and relational casework in line with The Salvation Army’s Doorways model and Money care Practice Framework Collaborate with colleagues and external service providers to ensure the best outcomes for clients Conduct ongoing assessments from initial contact through to case closure, developing and implementing tailored case plans Assist clients to access support services and provide advocacy where required Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in TSA information systems (SAMIS) and submit reports within required timeframes Identify and manage risks, escalating to management as needed Recommend improvements to service delivery based on community needs Practice self-care and engage in ongoing professional development What you will bring Diploma in Financial Counselling and working towards accreditation Experience in social services or a strong understanding of financial hardship and exclusion issues High level interpersonal, active listening and analytical skills The ability to work with people suffering difficulties and crisis Willingness to travel on occasion for training and development The ability to work within a counselling framework is highly regarded Valid Working with Children Check for the relevant state What we offer The Salvos offer eligible employee's a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including: Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.
