The City of Port Lincoln is seeking a full time Civil Operations Employee (Concreter) to directly improve the presentation, safety and functionality of services integral to the community, such as footpaths, kerbing, stormwater infrastructure and street furniture. What does this Position do? The primary function of the Civil Operations Employee (Concreter) is to undertake concreting works as part of routine maintenance and capital programs of work under the direction of the Supervisor, Civil Operations and/or the Manager Civil Assets & Operations. Whilst this is the primary function, the role will be required to assist the Civil Operations team more broadly, which may include street signage, line marking, road works and waste services. The Civil Operations Employee (Concreter) is expected to perform all tasks as reasonably instructed by the Supervisor, Civil Operations and/or the Manager Civil Assets & Operations. Key Responsibilities Construction of Council infrastructure including general civil groundwork, concrete footpath and kerbs, furniture installations, installation of bollards and fencing, cleaning and patching drainage pits, basic asphalting skills, and general labouring duties Undertake other general manual tasks using hand tools, including the operation of small plant items, for the minor construction and/or maintenance of assets as directed Footpath and road verge maintenance and repairs including minor construction Maintenance works on jetties, boat ramps, and other coastal infrastructure Painting and varnishing of Council infrastructure Rubbish removal, general cleaning, and graffiti removal Assist in maintaining all Council Plant and Equipment as required Assist in completing plant and equipment inspections within required timeframes Identify parts requirements as necessary and receipt of parts for maintenance as required Conduct preventative maintenance on plant and equipment as required. Work in accordance with Councils policies, procedures, processes and specifications. Actively participating in training and WHS programs as required. Reporting of incidents, near miss, injuries, property damage and identified hazards Taking reasonable care to protect their own safety and the health and safety of others Following reasonable instruction on health and safety and injury management Essential Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Demonstrated experience in concreting and the ability to manage works under limited instruction. Articulated Loader Ticket and Backhoe/Excavator Ticket (or willingness to obtain) Strong commitment to working in a team environment Drivers Licence – Class MR (or willingness to obtain) Experience in the operation and maintenance of plant and equipment Good communication skills and ability to work safely as part of a team Physically fit and able to undertake manual work in an outdoor environment Highly regarded but not essential Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Demonstrated experience in complex concreting in the public realm Certificate in Civil Construction or a trade certificate in a field relevant to the position Workzone Traffic Management Grader Operator ticket White card Confined Space ticket Drivers Licence – Class HR Key performance indicators Assigned concreting projects are undertaken and completed within set timeframes Demonstrated competence and commitment to the position All WHS incidents and/or near misses are recorded in accordance with Council procedure.
