Salary commencing at $108,846.53 per annum, plus 12% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience. Band 7. The Opportunity Moonee Valley City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Engineering and Capital Works Delivery Department. In this pivotal role, you will guide the strategic and reactive drainage management functions of Council, ensuring that the network is fit for purpose and mitigates the adverse impacts climate change. Key Responsibilities Lead the drainage engineering team, as part of the Civil Capital Works unit, by providing technical (drainage and flood management) advice. Produce project briefs, concept designs, and specifications for capital works projects and prepare estimates and schedules as required, to ensure conformity with Council standards and industry guidelines. Prepare relevant reports, correspondence, preliminary plans, cost estimates and apportionment of costs for each property involved in a special charge scheme. Undertake site inspections/investigations including drainage catchment studies in response to issues concerning storm water drainage, flooding or future development and prepare reports with recommended actions/effective solution(s) including cost estimates, as applicable. Investigate, assess and report on the capacity and demands of existing and new Council owned infrastructure assets including the impacts of new developments and/or stormwater modelling. Skills & Experience To succeed in this role, you will be a Registered Professional Engineer with relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering and bring extensive experience in civil engineering design, investigations, and construction, ideally within a local government context. You will have demonstrated capability in providing expert advice to consultants and coordinating infrastructure projects from planning through to design. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to meet project deadlines are essential. You will also possess sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines, as well as proficiency with software such as MS Office, AutoCAD, and GIS tools.
