Our client is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to lead the development and delivery of risk insights on climate and hydrological models for major infrastructure and energy projects. This specialised role combines advanced risk management expertise with deep technical knowledge of climate science and hydrological modelling to support clients in understanding and managing climate-related risks to their operations and investments. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, climate scientists, and hydrologists to translate complex climate and hydrological data into actionable risk insights for clients. You'll play a crucial role in helping clients assess the impacts of climate change, extreme weather events, and hydrological variability on their infrastructure assets and operational resilience. You will: Develop comprehensive climate and hydrological risk assessments for energy generation, water infrastructure, and critical facilities Analyse climate models, weather data, and hydrological projections to identify potential risks to infrastructure operations Lead the integration of climate science and hydrological modelling outputs into enterprise risk management frameworks Collaborate with engineering teams to assess the vulnerability of infrastructure assets to climate-related hazards Provide expert advice on climate adaptation strategies and infrastructure resilience planning Develop risk scenarios and stress testing frameworks incorporating climate and hydrological uncertainties Support clients in understanding regulatory requirements and industry standards for climate risk disclosure Prepare detailed risk reports, presentations, and technical documentation for senior executives and boards Engage with climate scientists, meteorologists, and hydrologists to ensure robust technical foundations for risk assessments Lead client workshops and stakeholder consultations on climate and hydrological risk management Support business development activities by providing technical expertise on climate risk opportunities Monitor emerging climate science research and incorporate findings into risk assessment methodologies Develop tools and frameworks for ongoing climate and hydrological risk monitoring and reporting Mentor junior risk professionals and provide technical guidance on complex climate risk matters Essential Requirements: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in risk management with focus on climate, environmental, or infrastructure risks Strong understanding of climate science, meteorology, and hydrological modelling principles Experience working with climate models (GCMs, RCMs), weather data, and hydrological datasets Knowledge of climate risk assessment frameworks and methodologies (TCFD, ISO 14001, AS 5334) Background in engineering, environmental science, meteorology, or related technical field required Professional risk management qualification (e.g., PRMIA, IRM) or climate risk certification highly regarded Experience in energy, water, or infrastructure sectors with understanding of operational vulnerabilities Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in statistical analysis software (R, Python, MATLAB) Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis techniques Understanding of extreme weather events, flood modelling, and drought risk assessment Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Meteorology, or related field required; Masters preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex technical information clearly Strong project management capabilities with experience leading multidisciplinary teams Experience preparing climate risk reports and technical documentation for regulatory and commercial purposes Knowledge of Australian climate patterns, hydrology, and extreme weather characteristics Why Join?
