About the Team The Settlements team manages critical market settlement processes across the National Electricity Market (NEM), ensuring accurate financial settlement of electricity transactions worth billions of dollars annually. The team works closely with AEMO, market participants, and internal trading and risk teams to manage complex settlement calculations, dispute resolution, and market reconciliation processes. As Australia's energy markets become increasingly complex with renewable energy integration and evolving market mechanisms, the settlements function is critical to managing financial risk and ensuring accurate revenue recognition across the business. About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Electricity Settlements Analyst to join their settlements team in Melbourne. This role involves managing electricity market settlements, analysing settlement data, and ensuring accurate financial settlement of energy transactions across the NEM. This position offers the opportunity to work with complex energy market data and contribute to critical business processes in Australia's largest energy company. The role suits analytical professionals with energy markets experience who want to develop expertise in electricity settlements and market operations. Key Responsibilities Manage electricity settlement processes across the National Electricity Market (NEM) Analyse settlement data and identify discrepancies, errors, and disputed amounts Coordinate with AEMO on settlement disputes, revisions, and market notices Prepare settlement reports and analysis for trading, risk management, and finance teams Monitor market settlement rules and regulatory changes affecting settlement processes Support financial reporting and revenue recognition processes for electricity transactions Investigate settlement variances and work with market participants to resolve disputes Maintain settlement systems and ensure accurate data processing and reporting Provide market intelligence on settlement trends and market developments Support trading operations with settlement forecasts and market analysis Coordinate with risk management teams on settlement exposure and credit management Assist with regulatory reporting and compliance requirements Role Expectations The successful candidate will be expected to: Demonstrate strong understanding of NEM settlement processes and market operations Manage complex settlement calculations with high attention to detail Work effectively with AEMO and market participants on settlement matters Provide analytical insights on settlement trends and market developments Support critical business processes with accurate and timely analysis Collaborate with trading, risk, and finance teams across the business Stay current with market rule changes and regulatory developments Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements The successful candidate will have: 4 years experience in energy markets , settlements, trading, or market operations Understanding of National Electricity Market operations and settlement processes Experience with AEMO market systems and settlement data analysis Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, or similar data analysis tools Attention to detail and accuracy in managing complex financial calculations Understanding of electricity market mechanisms including spot markets, ancillary services, and network charges Experience with market data systems and settlement software applications Strong communication skills for liaison with internal teams and external market participants Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or related analytical discipline Problem-solving skills and ability to investigate complex settlement issues Team collaboration skills and ability to work in fast-paced trading environment Why Apply?
