POSITION PURPOSE The Grade 2 Podiatrist is responsible for the development and delivery of high quality podiatry care to outpatients, acute and sub-acute inpatients, correctional health facilities, and patients in their own homes. This position is specifically to work at Fitzroy in the High Risk Foot inpatients and inter-disiplinary clinic and at the St George’s Hospital site in the Allied Health At Home service. Clinical timetabling may rotate and there may be requirements to work across other SVHM sites and programs. This position may require supervision of the Grade 1 Podiatrist and undergraduate podiatry students. This position is accountable to the Podiatry Department Manager. 5. POSITION DUTIES Provide optimal podiatry management to patients through effective assessment, treatment, evaluation, team liaison and discharge planning. To provide high quality clinically appropriate, comprehensive allied health therapy to clients and carers and in their own homes, aligning with the client’s expressed goals of care and healthcare needs, and considering the effects of the patient’s health issues on their life and wellbeing. Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge of evidence based practice, research and new developments. Be an active member of applicable inter-disciplinary and specialist teams Liaise closely with community service providers and attend relevant meetings to coordinate client care Maintain an appropriate standard of medical record documentation and data collection as per SVHM and local policies Provide supervision to the Grade 1 Podiatrist in line with professional standards. Primary student supervisor for the undergraduate podiatry students undertaking placement at SVHM. Coordinate and facilitate relevant training/education sessions for SVHM employees as requested. Participate in quality improvement activities in accordance with the department’s Quality Plan and other tasks as directed by senior staff. Develop, implement and promote innovative clinical practice. Actively participate in departmental, organisational and external meetings as required.
