About the Role As the Purchasing Officer / Manager, you'll be at the heart of our timber and hardware operations. Your mission? To ensure we always have the right products on hand - not too much, not too little - so we can meet the needs of our loyal customer base without overstocking or wasting resources. Key Responsibilities Monitor, forecast, and maintain optimal stock levels to meet daily customer demand Build and maintain strong, reliable relationships with key suppliers Identify and manage obsolete or overstocked items with minimal financial impact Keep the sales team up to date with product changes, new arrivals, and regulatory updates Organise supplier meetings and product presentations for internal teams Negotiate the best buying terms including volume discounts, special deals, and one-off opportunities Collaborate closely with the Inventory department to ensure accurate, timely stock movement and reporting What You'll Bring Previous purchasing or inventory management experience, ideally in hardware, building, or trade supply Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills A proactive, organised approach with great attention to detail The ability to build rapport with suppliers and internal teams alike Confidence using systems and data to forecast stock requirements and reduce excess Ready to Take the Lead?
