Reporting to the Manager – Breeding, the Dog Welfare Officer (DWO) plays a vital role in safeguarding the physical and mental wellbeing of every dog in our care. From daily husbandry duties to health checks, from transport to training transitions, the DWO is the go-to for everything related to our dogs’ health and happiness. This is a permanent part-time position at 0.6FTE. Key Responsibilities: Provide daily care, routine health checks, and wellbeing monitoring for dogs in training Support Instructors by identifying and reporting canine health concerns in a timely manner Manage vaccination schedules, de-sexing, parasite prevention and treatment plans Coordinate onsite and external vet visits, including assisting vets during examinations Maintain veterinary supplies and manage stock levels of medications and consumables Liaise with external vets and internal teams to ensure optimal dog welfare Support the intake, handover, and transition of dogs across training programs Maintain accurate records/notes and assist with data reporting and invoicing Ensure a safe and hygienic working environment, following all WHS protocols Contribute to continuous improvement of welfare processes and systems Skills And Experiences Essential Skills and Attributes: Solid understanding of dog behaviour and welfare Strong teamwork and ability to work independently Clear communication skills – both written and verbal Excellent planning, organisation and stress management Ability to follow instructions and act on feedback Proficiency in Microsoft Office Physically capable of meeting the demands of the role Desirable: Registration as a Veterinary Nurse Experience working with dogs in a training environment Experience working with volunteers and people with disabilities Required Compliance Documents ☒ National Police Clearance ☒ NDIS Worker Screening Check ☒ Working with Children Check ☒ Valid Driver’s Licence ☒ Annual Influenza Vaccination Benefits: In return, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits including: Up to 3 days additional paid leave during year-end holiday season!
