Position Overview They are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Agricultural Consultant to provide specialist advice and support across their banana farming operations. The role will focus on optimising crop production, improving sustainability, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and biosecurity requirements specific to tropical horticulture. Key Responsibilities Crop & Soil Management: Provide expert advice on soil fertility, crop nutrition, irrigation, and water management tailored to banana farming. Pest & Disease Control: Develop and implement integrated pest and disease management strategies, including Panama TR4 prevention and control. Farm Assessments: Evaluate production systems, identify challenges, and recommend practical solutions to improve yield, quality, and farm sustainability. Research & Innovation: Stay informed on the latest developments in tropical horticulture, biosecurity measures, and banana-specific farming practices. Training & Support: Conduct workshops and one-on-one sessions with farm staff on best practices in banana cultivation, safe chemical use, and farm safety. Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant Australian horticulture standards, WHS regulations, and environmental sustainability guidelines. Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, data analysis, and recommendations for management to support continuous improvement. Qualifications & Skills Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field. Proven experience in horticulture/agriculture consulting, ideally within banana or tropical crop production. Minimum 1 Year experience working as an Agricultural Consultant Strong knowledge of soil science, irrigation systems, and pest/disease management in bananas. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with farm managers and staff.
