Approximately 90% of their work centres on Ford Cleveland, Windsor, Small Block Chev, 308s, and other classic Australian engines. With three key areas of operation — parts, engines, and workshop, they have built a strong reputation for quality, precision, and passion for engines. They are now seeking an experienced Automotive Machinist / Engine Reconditioner to join their tight-knit engine shop team and play a vital role in their continued success. About the role This is a hands-on machining position, with around 90% of your time spent on precision engine work. You’ll be carrying out boring, honing, crank grinding, and cylinder head reconditioning, with a strong focus on bottom ends. Engines are delivered complete — your role is to handle the machining and reconditioning process, with 90% new parts fitted. While some light mechanical work may occasionally come up, this position is very much machining-focused. It’s an excellent opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled, tight-knit team, focusing on what you love most — high-performance engine machining and reconditioning. Duties Perform precision machining of engine components, including boring, honing, crank grinding, and cylinder head work, with a strong focus on high-performance V8s. Recondition and build bottom ends and full engines, working with 90–100% new parts to ensure reliability and top performance. Carry out machining work on classic Aussie engines, including Ford Cleveland, Windsor, Small Block Chev, and 308s. Operate and maintain workshop machinery with accuracy, care, and attention to strict tolerances. Work predominantly in machining (90% machining, 10% light mechanical work only, if required). Collaborate within a small, skilled team of machinists, contributing as a bottom end specialist or a capable all-rounder. Ensure all engine reconditioning and performance builds meet the highest industry and workshop standards. Skills and experience Proven experience as an Automotive Machinist / Engine Reconditioner, with strong hands-on machining expertise. Skilled in precision processes such as boring, honing, crank grinding, and cylinder head reconditioning. In-depth knowledge of high-performance and classic V8 engines — including Ford Cleveland, Windsor, Small Block Chev, 308s, and other Aussie favourites. Ability to deliver accurate work to tight tolerances, ensuring engines meet strict performance standards. Strong focus on bottom-end work, while also capable of contributing across all areas of engine reconditioning. High attention to detail, reliability, and a strong commitment to quality workmanship.
