RSPCA Tasmania is a well-known and highly loved organisation that has been a voice for Tasmanian animals for over 145 years. RSPCA Tasmania was founded in 1878 with a mission to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection. Today RSPCA Tasmania is governed by a highly dedicated Board of Directors which is now seeking to appoint a new Director to strengthen their team and also perform the role of Company Secretary. It is an exciting time to be joining the Board with the animal welfare sector undergoing a large amount of change in Tasmania and nationally. The Board is inviting interest from Tasmanian residents who are keen to be actively involved in contributing to the next phase of RSPCA Tasmania’s journey into the next 100 years and beyond. At this time Board is ideally seeking an individual who has skills in fundraising and philanthropy. We also welcome interest from a candidates who have other backgrounds and experience. Candidates should also possess an understanding of governance processes, director responsibilities ideally within a not for profit environment, and/or director qualifications. Previous experience as a director or reporting to a board is preferred but not essential. We are looking for a candidate with a heart and passion for improving animal welfare outcomes in Tasmania. The Board fosters a culture of inclusion valuing individual strengths, perspectives and experiences. It is committed to respecting diversity which enriches decision making to deliver better outcomes for the community and our animals. Candidates who share that commitment and/or who identify and connect with typically under-represented groups within the community are particularly welcome. Whilst there is no remuneration for our Board of Directors, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Board meetings are held outside business hours, on the fourth Tuesday of every second month, and generally last three hours. In addition, committees meet either monthly or bi-monthly. If you are interested in nominating, applications should include a cover letter of no more than 2 pages, outlining what you feel you can contribute to the RSPCA Tasmania Board, as well as a recent CV. Please submit your application via our Seek advertisement only by 5pm Sunday 31 August 2025. Want more information? Please contact RSPCA Tasmania Chair, Alexandra Garrott on 0408 867 . gmail.com
