SUMMARY OF THIS ROLE A production line setter or Machine Operator is a manufacturing professional responsible for ensuring a production line operates efficiently and produces high-quality goods. They perform a variety of tasks, including: Setting up and calibrating machines and equipment Troubleshooting and resolving production line issues Monitoring production quality and making adjustments as needed Maintaining detailed records of production data Training and mentoring other production line workers. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Machine Setup and Calibration Perform equipment setup and changeovers according to product specifications and production schedules. Maintain and calibrate tooling and machine settings; report and escalate equipment issues for timely repair or replacement. Establish and monitor Centreline settings to ensure consistent production performance. Operational Support and Troubleshooting Operate filling and packing machinery safely and efficiently. Identify and resolve equipment or production line issues; escalate recurring problems to engineering or maintenance teams. Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and basic equipment servicing. Quality Monitoring and Documentation Monitor product quality throughout production runs and perform in-process quality checks. Maintain accurate records of production output, changeovers, downtime, and deviations. Support quality investigations by providing relevant data and observations. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and SOPs accurately. Work closely with production team members, supervisors, engineers, and QA personnel to ensure seamless operations. Provide support in training and mentoring new operators as needed. Compliance and Safety Follow GMP, TGA, and company safety protocols at all times. Conduct safety checks and report hazards or incidents immediately. Participate in regular training and uphold a safe working environment. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS High School Certificate or equivalent; vocational training in mechanical/process operation preferred. Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or FMCG production environment. Familiarity with machine setup, troubleshooting, and changeover processes. Understanding of GMP, quality systems, and basic safety principles. Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as schematics and SOPs. Good physical stamina; ability to lift up to 15 kg and work on foot for extended periods. Strong team orientation and communication skills. KPIS (KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS) Production Output – Number of units produced per shift/hour. Quality Yield – Percentage of units meeting defined quality standards. Line Uptime – Proportion of time production line remains operational without unplanned stoppages. Setup Time – Duration required for machine setup or product changeover.
