A core aspect of engagement with Traditional Owners will include legislative consultation requirements to gain approvals for new projects and existing assets. This role will see you working with various teams within Shell based in Western Australia and Northern Territory to ensure that we grow and develop our Indigenous workforce by offering direct and indirect employment opportunities, with a particular focus on our priority Traditional Owner groups. Similarly, you will work collaboratively with our Supply Chain functional area to identify sustainable procurement opportunities for Indigenous businesses across Shell Australia assets and projects. In this role you will support the implementation of Shell Australia’s National Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), drive cultural competency in the organisation and contribute to associated Indigenous participation activities. Reporting to the National Indigenous Affairs Manager, the role is the focal point for Shell’s Indigenous engagement in Western Australia and the Northern Territory. The role includes managing and championing relationships and representing the broader IPCH team when engaging with and implementing the national IPCH strategy to a range of business and cross-functional teams across Shell Australia, including: Corporate Relations Team; Shell Legal; Social Performance Team; Human Resources; HSSE and Environment Teams; Contracts & Procurement and Supply Chain; and Senior Leadership and teams What’s the role? The overall objective of this role is to support Shell’s delivery of Indigenous outcomes and broader social performance objectives and partnerships. You will support and report to the National Indigenous Affairs Manager and work collaboratively across the IPCH team to deliver Shell’s RAP commitments, focal relationships with Indigenous communities, managing non-technical risks and building Shell’s brand by delivering Indigenous engagement and participation objectives. Accountabilities: In this role you will support the delivery and implementation of Shell Australia’s National Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and associated Indigenous participation activities. This role will see you working with various teams within Shell to ensure the we grow and develop our Indigenous workforce and contracting opportunities through both direct and indirect avenues. The role is the focal point for Shell’s Indigenous engagement in Western Australia and Northern Territory. Requirements of the role: Develop and support delivery of Asset Indigenous Engagement Strategies Develop and create Indigenous engagement plans for consultation requirements as required Lead and provide strategies to the above consultations and engagements Develop and maintain positive relationships with Traditional Owner communities relevant to Shell’s operations in Westerns Australia and the Northern Territory. Support the Shell Australia and Asset Leadership teams deliver a National RAP that delivers tangible outcomes that are aligned with the needs of our Indigenous stakeholders Support Shell’s RAP Champions network in achieving their objectives to coordinate employee participation and cultural competency in Shell’s RAP journey and associated activities Ensure accurate reporting, tracking and progress of Shell Australia’s RAP commitments and associated budgets Provide guidance on how Shell’s Assets engages with Indigenous stakeholders in a culturally appropriate way Provide guidance on how impacts to Indigenous communities are managed Provide guidance on commitments to investing into the Aboriginal communities through social investment programs Support HR to develop strategies to maximise Indigenous employment and retention, with particular focus on offshore Prelude FLNG Facility Support Indigenous suppliers to increase access to Shell supply chain and maximise sustainable procurement relationships with Shell’s assets. What we need from you To be successful in this role you will have extensive expertise and experience in engaging effectively with Australian Indigenous communities and being a conduit for business understanding of community’s needs. Coupled with extensive experience and proven track record of implementing national programs focused on maximizing Indigenous participation opportunities and outcomes within the gas sector. These specific skillsets should be furnished with a deep knowledge of Indigenous history, cultures, and communities critical to developing the strategic direction and engaging with key Shell external stakeholders as a representative of the business. You will have highly developed interpersonal skills and proven negotiation, risk management and collaborative behaviours including strong written and oral communication and ICT skills. Finally, a proven ability to lead, engage and influence across businesses to effectively oversee contract management and implement agreements internally and externally, navigating a complex and unique set of risks at a variety of levels on a national basis. Furthermore, you will have: Significant experience in engaging effectively with Indigenous communities and businesses Extensive experience in engaging effectively with Traditional Owner groups, including PBCs and stakeholders Demonstrated understanding of how to maximise Indigenous participation opportunities and outcomes within a large organization Ability to engage and influence effectively (internally and externally) at a variety of levels Preference for candidates with a tertiary qualification/ University degree, but not essential. In this role, your excellent time management skills, ability to motivate others and a solid understanding of budget management will drive results. Your highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, teamed with an ability to work with others to foster collaboration will ensure your success in this role.
