Our values: FUN | Allyship | Creativity | Connection | Trust | Self-Determination The Role: Casual role Flexible Hours (choose your own work days) Approximately 15-20 Hours per week Would suit someone making the move from full-time work to a more flexible lifestyle Role Purpose As the Maintenance Person, you will ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities and vehicles. This role involves performing routine maintenance, addressing minor repairs, managing fleet operations, and collaborating with contractors for larger projects. Your work will support our mission by maintaining safe, efficient, and functional spaces and vehicles. Key Responsibilities Handyman Duties: Identify and address maintenance needs within homes/refuges where children and young people are present. Perform routine maintenance on buildings and facilities. Conduct minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry). Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Manage inventory of tools and supplies. Assist in renovation and improvement projects. Coordinate emergency repairs and maintenance. Collaborate with staff to identify facility needs. Implement cost-saving measures. Oversee maintenance and servicing of vehicles. Manage vehicle registration and compliance. Train and supervise drivers on safe driving practices. Conduct safety inspections of vehicles. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs. Assist in the purchasing and sale of vehicles. Report fleet issues to management and recommend improvements. Leadership and Values: Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and effective conflict management. Inspire confidence and respect among staff and board members. Qualifications and Experience Proven experience in general handyperson or maintenance roles. Trade qualifications in carpentry, electrical, or plumbing (desirable but not essential). Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to building maintenance. Strong organizational skills to manage maintenance schedules and fleet servicing. Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and fleet management processes. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, contractors, and external service providers. Capacity to respond promptly to emergency repairs and maintenance needs.
