An opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join a high-performing Environment & Planning team within an elite global law-firm. The team is known for advising on some of Australia’s most significant infrastructure and renewable energy projects, as well as market-shaping environment and planning disputes. This is a rare chance to join a nationally and globally integrated group working on a mix of advisory, transactional and contentious matters. The Role As an Associate in this team, you will: Advise major domestic and international clients on environment and planning approvals, environmental prosecutions and compulsory acquisitions. Support on large-scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects, including wind, solar, pumped hydro and data centre developments. Assist with strategic climate change matters, including sustainability reporting, directors’ duties and greenwashing risk. Work on high-profile disputes, including precedent-setting cases in the Land and Environment Court and other superior courts. Advise on environmental markets, such as carbon credits and biodiversity schemes. Engage in complex negotiations with regulators, government bodies and key stakeholders. Collaborate with colleagues across Australian offices and international jurisdictions. Ideally you will have: 1–4 years’ PQE with a focus on environment, planning, climate change or major projects. Experience in a leading firm, government regulator or top-tier boutique (court/tipstaff experience highly regarded). Interest in working on a mix of advisory, transactional and contentious matters.
