Overview Chief Executive Officer: Mountains Youth Services Team (MYST) The organisation: Mountains Youth Services Team (MYST) is a non-denominational, community-based organisation providing youth centres, counselling, outdoor education, workshops, and family support across the Blue Mountains. Through strength-based practice and harm minimisation frameworks, MYST works with young people and their families to prevent disengagement and mental health crises, offering early intervention and tailored support to those most in need. With around 16 staff and a trusted local presence, MYST has built strong relationships with government, council, and community partners. Its work is underpinned by a clear values base, deep community connection, and a commitment to equipping young people with the tools and support they need to thrive. The role Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the continued success, sustainability, and growth of MYST. Working closely with a skilled senior leadership team, you will drive strategic planning, operational delivery, and financial management, while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and care. This role requires a visible and engaged leader who is present with staff and community. You will bring a balance of compassion and accountability, guiding the team towards high standards and shared goals. With responsibility spanning governance, compliance, service development, quality improvement, and advocacy, you will work directly with funders, council, and local partners to strengthen MYST’s impact and secure its long-term future. As CEO, you will champion the voice of young people in the Blue Mountains, ensuring services remain responsive and effective, while also exploring opportunities for innovation, sustainability, and revenue diversification. You will be a confident representative of MYST—building trust with government agencies, advocating for better policy outcomes, and enhancing the organisation’s profile across the region.
