Mechanical Maintenance Fitter and Turner - Talent Pool About the team Our Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance team is responsible for maintaining all mechanical and electrical infrastructure for community facilities, active utility infrastructure, poles, pits and conduits, and other electrical assets. About your new role As a Fitter and Turner with the City you will be responsible for performing minor works, preventative, corrective and unplanned maintenance to all operational assets within our water, waste and energy network in a safe and efficient manner. Maintenance activities can include works on water tanks/reservoirs, water pumping stations, wastewater pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants and associated mechanical, electrical and controls equipment. Experience working in an industrial environment would be beneficial to this role. Undertake repairs and maintenance duties (hands-on) Meet deadlines with all works Assist in the development and training of apprentices Identify areas and actions within the planned maintenance scope that will improve the economic and operational life of plant and equipment Participate in the After Hours on Call Roster Work overtime as required. We're looking for people who have: Certificate III in Fitting, Turning and Machining (Mandatory) Unrestricted C Class Drivers Licence (Mandatory) MR Drivers Licence (Desirable) General Construction Induction White Card (Desirable) Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including the ability to consult with a range of staff, customers and the general public The ability to be part of a high performing team, working in line with internal policies and practices including employment equity, workplace health and safety, and corporate values Self-motivation and the ability to get the job done right with limited supervision A responsible attitude in relation to time keeping, work organisation and quality control The capacity to identify issues in a regulatory environment and recommend appropriate responses and solutions Initiative and sound judgement with an ability to contribute to projects and initiatives The physical capability to attain and maintain confined spaces certification and relevant machinery licences Highly developed organisational skills in a utility-based environment The ability to understand and use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
