Our residential aged care facility is a 72-bedder complex which provides essential care and support to vulnerable older people in our communities who are at risk of homelessness. We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Hand to join our team in providing high-quality meal services for residents in our aged care facility. In this role, you will assist in food preparation, maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, and support the smooth running of daily meal services. This is a 4-day per week role with the following regular shifts: Monday: 6:00 am – 2:06 pm Thursday: 11:00 am – 7:06 pm Friday: 1:00 pm – 7:30 pm Saturday: 1:00 pm – 7:30 pm Your key responsibilities will be to: Maintain a high level of safety and hygiene in the kitchen area Assist in provision of balanced menus for clients and staff Ensure adequate food stock and rotation of stored food Receive food deliveries and ensure prompt and correct storage Maintain accurate records in accordance with the Vulnerable Persons Food Safety Program Ensure the security of the kitchen area, the food serving trolley, utensils and keys Requirements for Success Experience working in aged care would be an advantage Experience in a food handling role – preferred Experience in cooking/catering- advantageous Knowledge and understanding of food hygiene and food safety Relevant certificate in Food Safety Yearly Flu and Covid two dose plus booster vaccination is mandatory Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, referee checks and work right checks.
