This role provides expert guidance on regulatory compliance, risk management, and policy implementation across their diverse energy portfolio including generation, retail, and emerging energy technologies. The Role As Senior Compliance Advisor, you will provide strategic compliance leadership across multiple business units, ensuring adherence to complex regulatory frameworks whilst supporting business growth and innovation. This fixed-term contract position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile compliance initiatives, regulatory submissions, and strategic policy development. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive compliance frameworks across electricity generation, retail operations, and renewable energy development projects Lead regulatory risk assessments and compliance audits, identifying potential issues and developing mitigation strategies across multiple jurisdictions Manage relationships with regulatory bodies including the Australian Energy Regulator, AEMO, ACCC, and state-based regulators on compliance matters Provide strategic advice on regulatory developments, policy changes, and their commercial implications for business operations and strategic planning Prepare complex regulatory submissions, licence applications, and compliance reports for senior management and regulatory authorities Design and deliver compliance training programmes across business units, ensuring consistent understanding of regulatory obligations Lead cross-functional teams on compliance projects including system implementations, process improvements, and regulatory change management Monitor and interpret regulatory developments across energy markets, environmental regulations, and consumer protection frameworks Develop compliance policies, procedures, and governance structures that support business objectives whilst maintaining regulatory standards Conduct due diligence assessments for mergers, acquisitions, and new business ventures from a regulatory compliance perspective Support incident management and regulatory breach investigations, including root cause analysis and remediation planning Collaborate with legal, commercial, and technical teams to ensure integrated compliance approaches across complex energy transactions Your Background and Experience We are seeking candidates with proven compliance expertise in Australian energy markets: Minimum 8 years of regulatory compliance experience within Australian energy markets, preferably with integrated energy companies Deep understanding of energy market regulations including National Electricity Rules, National Gas Rules, and retail energy frameworks Experience with regulatory bodies including AER, AEMO, ACCC, and state-based energy regulators Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, planning approvals, and licensing requirements for energy infrastructure Proven track record of successful regulatory submissions, compliance audits, and stakeholder engagement Experience managing complex compliance projects across multiple jurisdictions and business units Bachelor's degree in Law, Engineering, Economics, or related field; advanced qualifications in regulatory affairs or compliance preferred Professional certifications in governance, risk, and compliance highly regarded Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders Experience with compliance management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory reporting Knowledge of renewable energy regulations, distributed energy resources, and emerging energy technologies advantageous Why Contract Through D'Arcy Weil?
