Overview Join the Digital Technology – Security Engineering team as a hands-on Senior Engineer – Security. You’ll monitor threats, respond to incidents, and coach developers on secure coding practices. You’ll work across engineering squads and security specialists to identify vulnerabilities, tune defences, and uplift the overall security posture of our applications and platforms. Location and employment type This is a permanent, full-time role based in Sydney (Gadigal Land) or Gold Coast (Yugambeh Land), with flexible hybrid working arrangements. Responsibilities Monitor threats and respond to security incidents. Coach developers on secure coding practices. Work across engineering squads and security specialists to identify vulnerabilities, tune defences, and uplift the security posture of applications and platforms. What you’ll need Proficient in one or more of the following languages Swift, Kotlin, Java, C#, TypeScript. Experience with edge security platforms like Cloudflare or Akamai (preferred but not essential). Ability to detect, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities in live environments. Understanding of WAF/WAAP rules, threat analysis, and log monitoring. Strong communication skills and passion for coaching developers. Familiarity with cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure). Why Westpac?
