About the role Location: 130 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne CBD Hours: up to 36.75 hours/week between 8:30am and 5:30pm Employment period: 06 Oct - 21 Nov 2025 The main function of the Equity and Scholarships Assessor is the in-depth assessment of Equity Schemes and Scholarships application data. Key external contacts: Applicants with variable qualifications, and community experts in assessment of health issues/ trauma. Statistical data relevant to this position: approximately 40,000 applications received annually. Reporting to the Assessment Manager, a typical week may include any or all of the following: Undertake the assessment process meeting deadlines and achieving the needs of user groups (universities and applicants). Ensure applicants are fairly and accurately assessed so that they may receive equitable consideration for selection. Provide feedback on the process. Enter data on in-house database for extraction to offer work lists for universities to assist with selection decisions. Other duties may include: Attend training and resource sessions for the purpose of assessment. Manage and help process supporting documentation. Act as a resource in answering applicant queries about assessment procedures. Contact experts in a particular field when assessing specific health issues/traumatic events for which training was inadequate. About you To be successful in this role you will be digitally savvy and thrive in managing shifting priorities in a dynamic environment. You will display the below knowledge and skills. Administration skills and experience in delivering effective front-line services. Sound planning and organisational skills. Ability to manage time and work under pressure. Ability to work as an effective member of a team as well as independently under general supervision. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to draft documentation and interact positively with colleagues and clients. Demonstrated computer literacy, data entry and word-processing skills including experience using business software such as Microsoft Office. Analytical and problem-solving skills. A current and valid Working with Children Check. Prior knowledge of VTAC ESS application and procedures or work experience in handling equivalent applications/data in the educational sector is highly desirable.
