As our Procurement & Contracts Lead, you’ll guide how the City secures the contracts, partnerships, and resources that bring projects and services to life. From multimillion-dollar capital works to critical community services, your leadership will ensure procurement processes are transparent, defensible, and aligned to legislation, probity standards, and Council’s strategic priorities. You’ll be the trusted advisor executives and elected members turn to when decisions must withstand scrutiny and deliver long-term value. What you’ll do Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Procurement & Contracts team. Oversee procurement and contract management frameworks to ensure compliance with legislation, audit requirements, and best practice. Build strong relationships with executives, Council, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to achieve better collaboration and outcomes. Drive end-to-end procurement solutions that deliver value for money, probity, and accountability. Monitor, report, and manage procurement risks across high-value and high-risk contracts. Coach and develop your team, fostering capability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Every day, you’ll be enabling decisions that are transparent, legally sound, and community-focused. About You You’re experienced in leading procurement and contracts in a high-accountability environment where compliance, probity, and value must go hand-in-hand. Tertiary qualification in law, public policy, business, or a related discipline. Strong track record managing end-to-end procurement and complex contracts in a regulated or public sector environment. Skilled at interpreting legislation, compliance frameworks, and probity requirements and translating them into practical solutions. Confident advising executives and Council on high-value, high-risk procurement matters. A proven leader who can build capability, coach teams, and drive a culture of operational excellence. Resilient, solution-focused, and comfortable operating where decisions are visible, scrutinised, and must withstand challenge.
