The Role We are seeking a skilled Stockman to join a leading red meat processing business in Central West, NSW. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring strong livestock handling skills and a commitment to animal welfare. Working outdoors and as part of a supportive team, you'll be responsible for the safe, efficient, and humane movement of livestock from receival through to lairage, ensuring all practices meet food safety and welfare standards. Key Responsibilities As Stockman, your role is vital in maintaining animal welfare and ensuring smooth livestock operations. Duties include: Receiving, unloading, and identifying livestock deliveries with correct documentation and NLIS compliance Handling cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, and calves using low-stress stock handling techniques Moving livestock safely between receival, lairage, and slaughter areas Monitoring animal welfare, including checks on feed and water availability Escalating concerns about illness, injury, stress, or non-ambulatory animals to supervisors Maintaining and cleaning yards, repairing pens, and removing waste Assisting with livestock separation, NLIS scanning, and daily kill requirements Supporting audits, inspections, and adhering to biosecurity and WHS standards Wearing PPE and reporting hazards or incidents promptly Animal welfare is central to this role - livestock must be managed in line with the Australian Animal Welfare Standards & Guidelines , company policies, and regulatory requirements.
